USSS. (U.S. Ski & Snowboard) Alpine Ski Race Team
Competing in the Connecticut Youth Ski League/Tri-State League
The Mohawk Mountain Alpine Race Team (MMART) is a competitive alpine ski race program for athletes ages 8 and older. Competing in the U.S. Ski & Snowboard U10-U18 categories, MMART races in the Connecticut Youth Ski League (CYSL) and Tri-State Alpine Racing Association as part of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Eastern Division.
MMART provides a positive, competitive, and supportive environment where athletes are challenged to reach their full potential as alpine racers while developing confidence, sportsmanship, and a lifelong passion for skiing. We are committed to helping each athlete pursue their individual goals, whether that means advancing to an academy program, competing at higher levels, coaching future generations of skiers, or simply becoming the strongest skier they can be.
Following U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Long-Term Athlete Development model, MMART emphasizes the development of strong skiing fundamentals before race tactics. Training is not limited to running gates. Athletes should expect a combination of free skiing, drills, technical skill development, and race training designed to build well-rounded alpine racers.
2026/2027 ELIGIBILITY & INVITATIONS
MMART members must be 8 years of age or older as of December 31, 2026.
Memberships is by invitation only.
Returning Racers
Athletes who were member in good standing of the 2025/2026 team will receive an automatic invitation to return.
Returning racers may register beginning August 3, 2026 and must complete registration by August 17, 2026 to retain their spot on the team. After this date, racer’s will forfeit their invitation, and the available team spot may be offered to a new participant.
New Racers
New racers must receive an invitation from the Mohawk Mountain Alpine Race Team before registering.
Invitations for new team members will be emailed in mid-August and will include instructions for completing registration.
Many team members progress through Mohawk Mountain’s Interclub and DSquad race development programs where coaches have the opportunity to evaluate their readiness. Competitive tryouts are held each February.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
There are two ways to join the Mohawk Mountain Alpine Race Team:
Returning Team Members
Racers in good standing from the 2025/2026 season may register beginning August 3, 2026
Registration must be completed by August 17, 2026 to retain the racer’s automatic invitation. After this date, any unclaimed team spots may be offered to new participants.
New Team Members
New racers who are selected for the team will receive an invitation from the Mohawk Mountain Alpine Race Team Director in mid-August, along with instructions.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Program fees include a Junior Anytime Season Pass, for the exclusive use of the participant.
There are no scheduled make-up sessions unless the program is cancelled by Mohawk Mountain due to extreme weather. If a cancellation occurs, you will be notified by email with both the cancellation notice and the make-up date.
A parent or guardian must remain within 20 minutes of Mohawk Mountain during each session and be available to return to the mountain is needed.
AN ELITE ALPINE SKI RACE PROGRAM
FOR SKIERS AGES 8+
USSS. (US Ski & Snowboard) Alpine Ski Race team, competing in the Connecticut Youth Ski League/Tri-State League
The Mohawk Mountain Alpine Race Team is an elite alpine ski race program for children, age 8 and up. We have U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18+ age groups. Membership on the team is by invitation only, and is based on a number of factors, including a skier’s “AAA Rating” and the unique needs of the team from season to season.
AAA is an assessment of Ability, Attitude and Attendance. A significant number of our team members have come through Mohawk Mountain’s Interclub and DSquad race development programs, giving the Mohawk Mountain Alpine Race Team coaches an opportunity to assess them. Competitive tryouts occur every year in February.
Race Team is a demanding program, requiring significant commitment of time and resources. Members of the Race Team are expected to attend every weekend practice, and optional weekday practices whenever possible. Practice begins in December (weather permitting), and the season can extend into mid March for racers who qualify for post-season competition. Travel for competition to other ski areas is a necessity, as is membership with USSS, Tri-State and CYSL.
The rewards of membership are also significant! Race Team members receive outstanding coaching, resulting in marked improvements from season to season. Team members forge friendships with teammates and coaches that last lifetimes, and learn to compete at the highest level while displaying unrivaled sportsmanship.
ALPINE RACE TEAM ELIGIBILITY
RACE TEAM MEMBERS MUST BE AGE 8 OR OLDER AS OF DECEMBER 31ST, 2026, BIRTH YEARS 2009 THROUGH 2018. MEMBERSHIP IS BY INVITATION ONLY. THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO RECEIVE AN INVITATION:
1) RETURNING RACERS SHOULD REGISTER ONLINE BEGINNING ON AUGUST 3TH, 2026. RETURNING RACERS MUST REGISTER BEFORE AUGUST 17TH, 2026 TO RETAIN THEIR AUTOMATIC INVITATION. IF A RETURNING RACER FAILS TO COMPLETE THEIR REGISTRATION BY AUGUST 17TH, 2026, THEIR INVITATION WILL BE REVOKED.
2) NEW MEMBERS OF THE TEAM WILL RECEIVE EMAILED INVITATIONS FROM MOHAWK MOUNTAIN ALPINE RACE TEAM DIRECTOR IN MID-AUGUST WITH DETAILS OF HOW TO REGISTER.
REGISTRATION
2026/27 REGISTRATION BEGINS ON AUGUST 3RD, 2026, EXCLUSIVELY AT WWW.SHOP.MOHAWKMTN.COM. ALL RETURNING RACE TEAM REGISTRATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED NO LATER THAN AUGUST 17TH, 2026 OR INVITATIONS TO JOIN THE TEAM WILL BE REVOKED. NEW RACE TEAM INVITATIONS WILL BE SENT OUT IN MID AUGUST. IN THE FALL YOU WILL RECEIVE AN INFORMATIONAL PACKET, WHICH WILL INCLUDE INFORMATION ABOUT SCHEDULES, REQUIRED EQUIPMENT, USSS/CYSL/TRI-STATE REGISTRATION INFORMATION, ETC. WHO SHOULD REGISTER FOR RACE TEAM?
MEMBERS OF 2025-2026 RACE TEAM. IF YOUR CHILD WAS A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING OF THE 2025-2026 RACE TEAM, YOU MAY REGISTER FOR THE RACE TEAM. YOU MUST REGISTER BETWEEN AUGUST 3TH, 2026 AND AUGUST 17TH, 2026 TO GUARANTEE A TEAM SPOT. IF YOU FAIL TO REGISTER BY AUGUST 17TH, 2026, YOU WILL FORFEIT YOUR SPOT ON THE TEAM, AND IT WILL BE OFFERED TO A NEW PARTICIPANT.

MOHAWK MOUNTAIN ALPINE RACE TEAM IS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF TIM RUH, HEAD COACH OF THE MOHAWK MOUNTAIN ALPINE RACE TEAM.
AS HEAD COACH, TIM PROVIDES EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP OVER ATHLETE & COACH RECRUITMENT, COACHES EDUCATION & TRAINING, THE ATHLETES TRAINING CURRICULUM AND TEAM COMMUNICATIONS. TIM HAS COLLEGE LEVEL SKI RACING EXPERIENCE AND HAS COACHED BOTH HIGH SCHOOLS AND THE MMART FOR SEVERAL SEASONS. TIM IS A CERTIFIED USSS ALPINE COACH AND RACE OFFICIAL.
RACERS ARE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN MEMBERSHIP IN USSS, TRI-STATE ALPINE SKI RACING ASSOCIATION, AND CONNECTICUT YOUTH SKI LEAGUE. LINKS FOR REGISTRATION AND RENEWALS ARE SUPPLIED IN THE FALL.
PARENTS OR GUARDIANS MUST BE NO MORE THAN 20 MINUTES AWAY FROM MOHAWK MOUNTAIN AND BE ABLE TO DROP WHAT THEY ARE DOING WHEN THE PROGRAM IS IN SESSION.
